DEFINITION Under supervision, to assist teachers in classroom and resource room operations and routing instructional support; to instruct and reinforce instruction of students individually and in small groups in accordance with instructions; to provide instructional record keeping support; to perform routine clerical duties; and to perform related work as required. REQUIREMENTS • High School Diploma or GED equivalent. –AND- • Completion of two years of higher education study (minimum of 48 semester units) –OR- Possess an Associate of Arts degree, Associate of Science degree or higher degree. –OR- Must have passed PTAP, the Garvey School District Local Assessment that was previously offered. • Any combination of training, education and experience that demonstrates possession of the knowledge and ability to perform the duties of this position. • A typical qualifying entrance background is experience working with children in a learning environment. Desirable: Bilingual in English and in Spanish, Cantonese, Mandarin and/or Vietnamese.
