Tutors commit to: - Conducting group tutorial sessions that underscore the principle of collaborative learning. - Communicate regularly with the AVID coordinator/teacher regarding student progress. - Acknowledge the individuality of all students and work to develop their academic and personal pride. - Reinforce the idea that learning extends far beyond mere studying to form the basis for long term accomplishments.

Up to 15 hours per week
AVID Tutors needed for the following:
LOCATION: Sandburg Middle School
DAYS & HOURS: Tuesday, 9:30am – 12:30pm & 2:45pm - 3:45pm
Thursday, 9:15am - 11:30am
And
LOCATION: Goddard Middle School
DAYS & HOURS: Wednesday, 8:30 – 11:30am & 2:40 – 3:40pm
Friday, 8:30 – 11:30am
WORK YEAR: August 2024 – May 2025
AVID (Advancement via Individual Determination) Tutors will work with small groups of middle school students under the supervision of the AVID teacher. Tutors should be current college students who are excellent role models with the following characteristics:
• motivated, organized, and reliable and believe all students can and will succeed.
