Job Summary

DEFINITION Under general supervision, operates heavy power-driven grounds equipment as a regular assignment; performs a variety of semi-skilled and skilled maintenance and repair work related to the operation of irrigation systems; and performs related work as required. LICENSE REQUIRED Possession of a valid California class A driver's license. Incumbents required to obtain class A license at own expense within six (6) months of regular employment. CLASS CHARACTERISTICS A major portion of the job duties requires strong skill level in all aspects of heavy-duty equipment, irrigation installation, and maintenance. Incumbent is expected to work independently in the revamping of fields, preparing the irrigation areas, and troubleshooting problem areas such as athletic fields, irrigation and draining systems.

          This is an Open and Promotional recruitment. The current position is located at the District Maintenance, Operations, and Transportation department. The eligibility list will be valid for one year and used to fill the current open position and used for future vacancies throughout the District during that time span. The application/interview process will result in both an Open list and a Promotional list. The Promotional list will take precedence and be used first. Final selection of appointees will be made from the top three ranks who are “ready and willing” to accept an assignment. Personnel Commission Rule 4240.1 F: When fewer than three (3) ranks of available eligible candidates remain on an eligibility list and the appointing authority has requested certification of additional eligible candidates, the list may be terminated by the Personnel Director. In order to obtain Veterans' preference of 5 points, service must be in accordance with Personnel Commission rule 4230.6.A or updated law. Please attach DD214 Form to your application.
