Job Summary

A paraprofessional is an educational worker without a teacher's license who assists teachers with classroom management and organization. Also known as a teacher's aide, the paraprofessional provides a positive and nurturing guide for students and attends to their physical, personal, academic, and emotional needs. Requirements • One-year early childhood education experience • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills • Driver License and High School Diploma Preferred: • Completion of AA Degree • Completion of (6) semester units in ECE Must have or be able to obtain Pediatric First Aid and CPR certificate within 6 months of employment; and obtain Child Care Health and Training • The following is required or must be completed by the end of the first year. a. Completion of six (6) postsecondary semester or eight (8) equivalent quarter units in early childhood education (ECE) or child development (CD) OR b. Completion of at least three postsecondary semester units or four equivalent quarter units in early childhood education or child development each semester or quarter following initial employment, AND c. Continuation in the educational program each semester or quarter until six (6) semester units or eight (8) quarter units have been completed
