Job Summary

The substitute is responsible for the full schedule of the regular teacher. This includes the classroom day and any special duties performed by the absent teacher. The substitute is expected to follow the plans of the teacher as closely as possible. Charter Oak Unified School District compensation for substitutes through the 2023/2024 school year is as follows: Daily Substitute Rate – $160/day Long Term Substitute Rate – beginning on the 21st day in the same assignment $180/day

MATERIALS • California Teaching Credential or Substitute Teacher Permit • If you do not have a substitute permit or teaching credential, you must have Bachelor's degree and proof of California Basic skills. • If you do not have a substitute permit or teaching credential, you must turn in your Bachelor’s Degree Official Transcripts to COUSD. Please do not send until you are asked to do so. • Pass LiveScan (paid by applicant) • Negative TB test within the past 4 years (to be turned in if hired, please do not attach to your application) • Resume • 1 letter of recommendation within the past year • Love and passion to teach with excellence

          There are approximately 4,600 students in the K-12 schools of the Charter Oak Unified School District. Charter Oak is located approximately 25 miles east of Los Angeles. The district consists of 5 elementary schools, 1 middle school, 1 continuation school, 1 four-year high school and 1 adult school.
