MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Education: Equivalent to a high school diploma. - CPR and First Aid Certification will be required at time of hire. Cost of obtaining certificates will be the responsibility of the successful candidate. Ability: Assist driver with supervision of assigned students. Ability to lift/push/pull up to 50 pounds. Knowledge: First Aid and CPR pertaining to the special needs of passengers. License: Possession of a valid California driver’s license and a valid First Aid and CPR Certificate. Fingerprinting: Fingerprint clearance will be required and conviction records will be checked. Cost of fingerprinting is $67.00 and will be the responsibility of the appointee. Physical: Pre-employment physical (including back x-ray) will be required, and the cost assumed by the district. Tuberculosis Test (TB): Must furnish certificate showing proof of being free from active tuberculosis. Typical Duties & Responsibilities: - Assist passengers if they become ill or have seizures, and be cognizant of all special physical needs of assigned passengers. - Assist passengers on and off the bus when loading and unloading. - Assist driver in operation of manual or automatic left when loading and unloading passengers. - Assist driver with fastening of all seat belts and make sure all seat belts stay fastened at all times. - Assist driver with securing wheelchairs in designated area and apply proper restraints correctly to assure safe transportation. - Know the location and proper use of first aid and emergency equipment (such as reflectors and fire extinguishers). - Duly report health related instances occurring during transportation. - Other miscellaneous duties as assigned. LICENSE/CERTIFICATE: Possession of a valid First Aid and CPR Certificate or ability to obtain clearance prior to starting in the position. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to lift/pull/push a minimum of 50 pounds, and exhibit full range of motion of spine and extremities. Applications must include a letter of intent, resume and a minimum of two (2) letters of recommendation which are dated within the last three (3) years AND physically signed. Letters of recommendation written by family members will not be accepted.
