The purpose of the CTE Emergency First Responder Teacher is to perform under general supervision, to supervise and instruct students in assigned areas of vocational training and career development; to establish and maintain an orderly, safe, and well-disciplined classroom learning environment; and to perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Requirements / Qualifications
EXPERIENCE: Three (3) years of work experience in the technical skills, trade, or vocations to be taught are required. One (1) of the three (3) years of the required experience must be within the last five (5) years, or two (2) years within the last ten (10) years. **EMT/Paramedic related experience.** EDUCATION: High school diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor’s degree highly desirable. CREDENTIALS/CERTIFICATES/LICENSES: Possession of, or ability to obtain prior to employment, a valid California Designated Subjects Career Technical Education Teaching or Vocational Credential for the subject to be taught is required. (Refer to the Commission on Teacher Credentialing website at www.ctc.ca.gov for Designated Subjects Career Technical Education Teaching Credentials). CTEL certification or EL equivalent such as CLAD, BCLAD, or SDAIE must be completed during the first year of employment in this position or be part of a University credentialing program of study. (You must apply for annual waiver while completing University credentialing program of study until CTEL certification or EL equivalent is obtained through clear credential.) You must provide copies of credentials as required for the position or provide evidence of qualifying for required credential with your application materials. Valid CA Driver's License

Sick leave is earned at the rate of one day per month, and is accumulative from year to year;
Personal Leave and Personal Necessity days are also earned, as stipulated in the collective bargaining agreement.
Certificated Employees are eligible to join the California State Teachers Retirement System (CalSTRS).
New employees become permanent upon successful completion of a probationary period of two years.
