MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION: Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade with supplemental training and courses in mechanics. Possession of Brake Inspector Certification-air and hydraulic systems. DOT 396.25 - 13 CCR 1232 (e)
EXPERIENCE: Four (4) years of skilled experience performing broad and varied repairs to heavy and light vehicles, diesel engines, hydraulic systems and school buses.
ABILITY TO: Perform skilled repair and overhaul work on heavy and light gasoline and diesel powered equipment; use standard mechanics’ equipment skillfully in the performance of assigned work; work from mechanical diagrams and technical automotive repair manuals, understand and follow oral and written directions; work cooperatively and effectively with other staff members, bus drivers and administrators.
LICENSE: Possession or ability to obtain (within 6 months) a valid California Commercial Driver’s License with air brake and passenger transportation endorsement appropriate to the types of equipment road tested or operated and a valid DOT. Approved medical certificate. Air brake certification required. Capable of being insured to operate District owned vehicles in accordance with district insurance determinations.
PRIMARY FUNCTIONS: Under general supervision, diagnoses, repairs and services heavy duty gasoline and diesel powered district vehicles, buses and related equipment and perform other related duties as required. (additional responsibilities listed on job description, provided upon request)
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS: Heavy work-may entail lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling up to approximately 100 pounds, with frequent lifting and/or carrying of heavy objects.
TESTING: Passing score on written and parts ID test. (Date and time to be announced at a later date.)
Fingerprinting/Physical: Fingerprint clearance will be required and conviction records will be checked. Cost of fingerprinting will be the responsibility of the appointee. Must pass pre-employment physical with back x-ray. School district will assume responsibility for physical.
TUBERCULOSIS TEST (TB): Must furnish certificate showing proof of being free from active tuberculosis.
