Job Summary

The Auditory/Oral DHH teacher provides specialized academic instruction for students, who have hearing loss and use an auditory-oral method of communication through the use of listening and spoken language strategies. These strategies will maximize language acquisition, auditory skills, access to grade-level academics and support successful integration within general education classrooms.

• Valid California Deaf and Hard of Hearing or Communication Handicapped Credential with an EL Authorization. • Listening and Spoken Language Specialist (LSLS) Certification is desired. • Teaching experience or student teaching experience in an auditory-oral classroom. • Knowledge of current educational trends, core, and alternative core curriculum and strategies for implementation as related to programs for students with hearing loss using an auditory/oral method of communication. • Knowledge of state content standards and mandated tests (i.e., SBAC, CAA, ELPAC). • Knowledge of the IEP process and SEIS.
