Job Summary

The Fullerton School District is seeking a qualified individual for a full-time management position leading our Nutrition Services department. The Director of Nutrition Services, under the direction of the Assistant Superintendent of Business Services, plans, coordinates, directs, and oversees District-wide food nutrition services in schools and facilities and acts as a liaison between school principals, the community and administrative personnel, and oversees the development of nutritional menus designed to meet National School Lunch Program requirements. This career opportunity is an exempt management 8 hours/day, 12 months/year position with paid holidays, sick leave, vacation, and comprehensive benefits that include medical, dental, vision, and life insurance.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE Education: A Bachelor’s Degree in dietetics, institutional management, nutrition, food science, or a closely related field to the duties and requirements of the classification from an institute or higher learning recognized by the Council of Higher Education Accreditation is required. Experience: Five (5) years of experience in the administration of a large nutrition service program or in a large institutional feeding program, including at least (2) years of supervisory responsibility for a large kitchen and diversified feeding program, is required. Additional managerial experience in the field of school nutrition services above the required minimum may be substituted for college education on a year-to-year basis for up to two (2) years. License: •Possession of a valid Class C California Driver’s License and insurability to drive a District vehicle as part of the District's Pull Notice program is required. •A valid ServSafe California Food Handler certification is required. Special information: •The ability of private transportation to transport between job sites or the ability to operate a District vehicle is required. •All applicants will be required to submit a recent (less than one month old from the recruitment closing date) DMV printout showing their driving record.

RECRUITMENT PROCESS This is a merged promotional and open competitive recruitment. The recruitment process may consist of the following: an application and supplemental question response evaluation and/or structured oral interview. We anticipate conducting a first round of qualifying panel interviews the week of June 17-21 with a final hiring interview to follow the week of June 24-28.

To qualify to be placed on an eligibility list, a candidate must obtain a passing score on each part of the process. Final scores will be obtained by combining the relative weights of scores on each part of the process. The resulting eligibility list will be used to fill the current and any future vacancies for one year (12 months).
