Job Summary

We are looking to add an enthusiastic PE teacher to New West’s high school faculty to serve students in grades 9-12. The ideal candidate would be a highly qualified and experienced teacher who is ready to lead 4 periods of PE, Weight Training, or a combination of both and 1 section of Health. We’re looking for candidates that teach using a wide variety effective strategies to engage students in physical activity and healthy habits. We believe PE is a CORE CLASS and are looking for PE teachers that also have this belief and take their subject seriously. There are no OFF DAYS in PE!           NCLB credentialed applicant would be joining a Physical Education team, teaching a full load of PE courses. The PE courses should contain organized games and challenges that promote physical activity among the students, develop motor skills and physical development as well as promote healthy eating habits. The applicant must adjust curricula to adapt to children with disabilities or different physical abilities. Like all instructors, the Physical Education applicant must have strong speaking and listening skills; be knowledgeable about an activity and be able to communicate and demonstrate that knowledge; and be able to observe all their students and maintain discipline within the class. Each applicant should also perform basic teaching duties including, but not limited to collaborating with subject colleagues on a consistent basis (i.e. integrated lesson planning), contacting parents when necessary, working directly with the resource staff to accommodate students with specific learning needs, and implementing project based learning strategies with differentiated instructional techniques.
