The Southern Humboldt Joint Unified School District crosses two counties, Mendocino and Humboldt, in the heart of the redwoods, extending from remote, mountain areas, to the Eel and Mattole River valleys, to Kings Range and out to the Lost Coast of the Pacific Ocean. Under the direction of the Superintendent, the Small Schools Principal performs those duties and responsibilities which provide administrative support to Casterlin Elementary/High School, Osprey Learning Center, Whitethorn Elementary School, and other related student support programs both through the Family Resource Center and the district. The Small Schools Principal possesses the vision, knowledge, and commitment to create a supportive educational environment that promotes the success of all students. As the instructional leader, the Principal promotes the District's goals and moral imperatives while embracing the uniqueness of both schools and the school communities. Minimum Qualifications: • Minimum of five (5) years of successful teaching experience. • Minimum of three (3) years of school site administration or equivalent, is preferred. • Must have a valid California Administrative Services Credential or Certificate of Clearance and Teaching Credential. • Master’s degree in education, public administration, is preferred ($1000 Stipend). • Must possess a valid California driver’s license and be insurable. • Demonstrate excellence in leadership and management skills. • Qualities of integrity, excellence, respect, compassion, courage, and forthrightness in dealing with students, parents, and staff.
