Interested applicants must follow the steps outlined below, all required documents must be attached. *Applicants must hold a Teaching Credential: Multiple Subject, Single Subject, Education Specialist Credential, Counseling Credential or a 30 Day Emergency Permit * • Resume • Three signed letters of recommendation dated within the past three years • Unofficial copies of your transcripts • CBEST test results (This is NOT a required attachment in your application but, if you have your results, please include them.) • TB Test Results/X-ray Results (Risk assessments are not accepted for first-time employees) Please have the following second set of fingerprints completed before applying: • DOJ Clearing House Fingerprints (needed for certificated employment with PUSD.) 2. CREDENTIALS: Contact the San Diego County Office of Education for credential information. Candidates who need information can check online at http://www.sdcoe.net/human-resources/credentials or in person. 3. Complete fingerprint requirements. Fingerprinting - If you are applying for a California Credential or 30-Day Emergency Permit for the first time, you must do the DUAL fingerprinting process. These fingerprints are also referred to as a Certificate of Clearance. Job Description:
As a Substitute Teacher, you will play a crucial role in maintaining continuity of education in the absence of the regular classroom teacher. Your responsibilities will include implementing lesson plans, managing the classroom environment, and ensuring the learning objectives are met during the teacher’s absence. You will work across various grade levels and subject areas, providing instruction and support to students following the school's policies and procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Instructional Delivery: Deliver lesson plans provided by the absent teacher, ensuring that educational content is effectively communicated to students.
2. Classroom Management: Maintain a positive and productive learning environment by enforcing classroom rules, managing student behavior, and resolving conflicts as needed.
3. Student Engagement: Foster student participation and engagement in learning activities, encouraging active involvement in classroom discussions and assignments.
4. Assessment: Administer and supervise tests, quizzes, and other assessments as instructed by the absent teacher, and provide feedback to students on their performance.
5. Support: Provide academic and emotional support to students as needed, addressing individual learning needs and offering assistance with assignments and coursework.
6. Communication: Maintain open communication with school staff, including administrators, teachers, and support personnel, to ensure smooth transitions and effective implementation of instructional plans.
7. Professionalism: Adhere to professional standards and ethical guidelines, demonstrating punctuality, reliability, and professionalism in all interactions with students, staff, and parents.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in education or a related field (preferred)
- Teaching certification or substitute teacher certification (depending on state requirements)
- Previous experience working with children or in educational settings is desirable
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to adapt to different classroom environments and instructional styles
- Flexibility and willingness to work on short notice
Working Conditions:
Substitute teachers may work part-time or on-call, with assignments varying in duration and frequency. Work hours typically coincide with regular school hours. The job environment may include exposure to noise, classroom interruptions, and different classroom setups.
