I. TITLE – School Psychologist
II.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
A. Credential
California credential authorizing services as a school psychologist
B. Education - Sufficient to meet credential requirements
C. Experience – Successful teaching experience desirable.

A. Knowledge of behavioral characteristics of school age children
B. Ability to work with children in a school environment
C. Ability to work effectively with students of all age levels
D. Ability to work effectively with students and parents of varied ethnic backgrounds
E. Ability to work effectively with groups
F. Ability to function in an administrative capacity
G. Ability to work effectively with school faculty and staff
IV. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
A. Subject and Management Area
1. Identification of behavioral, social, and/or academic problems involving such activities as:
a. Conferencing with teachers, aides, students, principal, home liaison, nurse, speech therapist, reading and math resource personnel, and others as is appropriate to each unique situation
b. Observation within classroom setting and on playground, as well as others where applicable
c. Home visits
d. Testing with use of screening and/or individual psychological tools
e. Information collation of school record, health records, teachers reports, outside agencies,other school districts and others
2. Develop individual prescriptions for students consisting of such activities as:
a. Staffing with child, teacher, nurse, speech therapist, doctor, resource personnel and others
b. Setting performance criteria, e.g., desired behavioral outcomes
c. Setting performance objectives via written individualized prescription plan
d .Assignment of responsibilities for implementing and evaluating the plan
e. Scheduling follow-ups
3. Methods utilized for treatment of problems will consist of but not be limited to:
a. Intensive individual counseling
b. Intensive group counseling
c. Individual contract
d. Behavior modification techniques
e. Referral to outside agencies such as Mental Health, Child Guidance Clinic, etc.
f. Revision of instructional program such as replacement, re-scheduling of school day, as well as others
g. Placement in special education program
h. Family counseling
i. Others as applicable
4. Follow-up procedures will consist of:
a. Periodic checkups to determine progress made
b. Progress evaluation with Diagnostic Profile Rating Scale
c. Determine case conclusion
5. Re-evaluation
a. Observation
b. Reviewing reports
c. Reassessment
d. Writing summaries
e. Modifying plans
B. RELATIONSHIPS
1. Assist Child Development Specialist in conducting in-service for teachers, aides and parents through:
a. Individual consultation (one-to-one)
b.Small groups such as grade level conferencing
c. Large groups consisting of total faculty or combing faculties in in-service workshops
d . Be knowledgeable about and recommend outside resource consultants
2. Supervision of Professional Trainees
a. Interning psychologists
b. Testing Interns
3. In-service Training
a. Individual or small group consultation with professional staff
b. Individual or small group consultation with paraprofessional staff
c. Parent conferencing in child management and control
C. PROFESSIONAL ATTITUDE, RESPONSIBILITIES AND PARTICIPATION
1. Public relations
a. Participation in community groups
2. Recordkeeping
a. Gather appropriate information
b. Write reports
c. Keep records up-to-date
