The Orange County Department of Education (OCDE) serves some of Orange County’s most vulnerable student populations and provides support and mandated fiscal oversight to 28 school districts serving more than 600 schools and approximately 475,000 students. In addition to providing direct instruction to students through its own alternative and special education programs, OCDE administers an array of programs and services that are critical to the operations of local school districts and community colleges, facilitating professional development, legal guidance, payroll, career and technical education support, high-speed internet access, Local Control and Accountability Plan assistance and approval, resources for families, and student enrichment. Job Summary
The Orange County Department of Education (OCDE) is looking for energized individuals who are interested in working with our S1S school program from late June through mid August 2024 (start dates vary by location). S1S Teachers will provide educational services to students in grades 7 through 12 in independent study settings in-person throughout Orange County and virtually. S1S Teachers perform the full range of independent study teaching responsibilities for up to 43 students. Teachers will instruct in the following subjects: • Mathematics, Science, English, Social Science, Health, Career Exploration, and PE. • Teachers of AG/UC Approved Core classes will use Edgenuity courses. Among other instructional responsibilities, duties include: • Signing master agreements. • Uploading electronic records for Independent Study compliance documentation. • Monitoring student academic progress. • Contacting students and their families on a weekly basis for updates, student progress, and course requirements. • Offering Synchronous Learning opportunities for student support. • Determining ADA based on student work completion. Successful candidates will have the knowledge, skills, and ability to: • Deliver instruction based on current trends and research in education methods and procedures. • Interact successfully with parents, students, supervisor, and school staff. • Communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing. • Operate learning management systems for online learning assignments. License and Experience: • Applicants must hold a valid California teaching credential authorizing service at the secondary level and/or elementary level. • Experience with online instruction preferred.

A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be: • Bachelor or higher degree from a regionally accredited college or university. • Experience with online instruction preferred. Licenses, Certificates, And Special Requirements: • Possession and maintenance of a valid California teaching credential authorizing service at the secondary level and/or elementary level. • Meet the Basic Skills Requirement through one of the methods listed on Form CL-667 on the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing website - www.ctc.ca.gov.

A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be: • Bachelor or higher degree from a regionally accredited college or university. • Experience with online instruction preferred. Licenses, Certificates, And Special Requirements: • Possession and maintenance of a valid California teaching credential authorizing service at the secondary level and/or elementary level. • Meet the Basic Skills Requirement through one of the methods listed on Form CL-667 on the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing website - www.ctc.ca.gov.
