Job Summary
Job Summary
The position of High School Mainstream Program Teacher assesses and evaluates learning strengths and weaknesses. Develops and implements an appropriate Individualized Education Plan (IEP) and Individual Transition Plan (ITP) (as appropriate) for each student in conjunction with designated instructional services and other support staff. In collaboration with Fremont Unified School District, the candidate will provide access to common core classes at a FUSD high school, plan and implement expanded core classes at CSB for students that meet IEP/ITP goals. Students in this program are pursuing a high school diploma through this collaborative model. The candidate will be responsible for preparing daily lesson plans, writing IEP goals and benchmarks based on assessment, and completing progress reports to document student progress, participating in IEP meetings and communicating progress with IEP team members, and providing direct instruction in both the classroom and community-based settings. *This position is limited term, Pre-Tenured, based on the bargaining unit contract between the State of California and the Service Employee's International Union (SEIU) - Local 1000 Bargaining Unit 3.
Requirements / Qualifications
Required Qualifications Minimum Qualifications: o Bachelor’s Degree (Master’s Degree preferred) o Has met the California Basic Skills Requirement o Possession of a California Education Specialist Teaching Credential; Visual Impairments (Intern Credential will be considered) Desired Qualifications o Experience as a teacher for students with blindness, sensory impairments, and/or multiple disabilities. o Experience working with students with visual impairments and additional disabilities. o Knowledge of specialized curriculum and assessments for students with visual impairments, including students with additional disabilities. o Familiarity with California Common Core Standards for English and Math o Experience writing IEP goals and implementing them o Knowledge of Braille (Unified English Braille and Nemeth Math) o Knowledge of assistive technology, i.e. screen readers, refreshable braille displays, braille note taking devices and experience determining the students’ needs and instructing them on its use. o Understanding of the Expanded Core Curriculum (ECC) and have experience-implementing curriculum with a variety of students and age ranges. o Knowledge of Learning Media Assessment and functional vision assessments – experience in assessing and writing goals from results preferred. o Possess excellent report writing skills. o Possess excellent collaboration skills, and can work effectively with a team. o Valid Driver’s License Please refer to Duty Statement for further information related to job expectations.
This position will be considered Limited Term and pre-tenured until tenure is obtained. Tenure is acquired by meeting all of the requirements specified in the State of California and Service Employees International Union (SEUI) - Local 1000 Bargaining Unit 3 contact.
