Under the direction of the Site Coordinator, the incumbent performs duties in a before and after school enrichment program at schools in the Downey Unified School District (DUSD). The Group Leader is responsible for planning, implementing and evaluating a variety of instructional and enrichment activities. The Group Leader is also responsible for the supervision of students in their group, and ensuring the groups safety and wellbeing at the program. Salary: $20.00/hour Schedule: Monday - Friday, from school release to 6:15pm
Requirements / Qualifications
Any combination of experience to demonstrate possession of the required skills, knowledge and abilities to successfully perform the essential functions of the position is qualifying. Education: • High School Graduate or equivalent. • Must pass assessment that demonstrates knowledge of and the ability to assist in teaching reading, writing and mathematics OR reading, writing, and mathematic readiness OR, may meet requirement with completion of two (2) years of higher education study OR possession of an Associate's or higher level degree (48 units) in the field of education, or related field of study. • Applicants must provide copies of their college/university transcripts (unofficial are acceptable) and/or degree. Experience: • One (1) year experience in working with children in an educational organized setting or other organized setting. • Two (2) years of experience working with children in an instructional, teaching or closely related capacity preferred. • Extensive experience in a paid or unpaid volunteer position working with children may be considered. Clearances: Offers of employment are contingent upon successful clearance of the following: fingerprinting and background check (DOJ & FBI), and TB test. Certificates: The following certifications must be obtained from a recognized agency prior to employment and must be maintained throughout employment in the position. • CPR (Infant, Child and Adult) Certificate • First Aid Certificate • Mandated Reporter Certificate Licenses: Must have a valid California class C driver's license or the ability to use an alternative method of transportation when needed to carry out job-related essential functions.
