Job Summary

Job Summary

Under the general supervision of the Mountain Oaks Administrator, the counselor provides behavioral and educational counseling to groups and individuals, assists students in accessing education by adjusting better to school and community life, and serves as liaison to other agencies.

  • Copy of Transcript (Equivalent to a Master’s degree in counseling or a closely related field from an institution of higher learning accredited by one of the six regional accreditation associations as recognized by the Council on Post-secondary Accreditation.)
  • Credential Copy (Possession of a valid California Pupil Personnel Services credential authorizing service as a counselor, or enrollment in PPS program (and 12 semester units of coursework completed). Applicants with credentials not recorded with the Calaveras County Office of Education must submit written evidence of an appropriate credential. )
  • Letter of Introduction (Formal Letter of Interest)
  • Letter(s) of Recommendation (Three Required; preferably from former employers or supervisors)
  • Resume (Significant, directly related, and progressive experience as a counselor, including educational and career counseling. Alternative education teaching, which includes independent study, homeschool, counseling, transcript evaluation, and program planning. Demonstrated knowledge and experience with programs designed to improve educational success and opportunities for special needs students is highly desirable.)
