Summary

Representative Duties and Responsibilities
The following is a list of duties that are representative of the position and include but are not limited to:

Assumes a leadership role in developing curriculum for any course or area newly mandated by the Board or California Department of Education.

Provides relevant information and training to Assistant Principals at monthly meetings.

Coordinates and monitors annual required Federal and State testing programs (CAASPP, ELPAC, Physical Education).

Properly identifies curriculum objectives and needs of the students while working with teachers, administrators, and other staff members.

Provides data collection, analysis, interpretation, and communication for comprehensive school-wide improvement
-
Develops and implements curriculum development, programs, procedures, and policies in a timely and efficient manner.

Develops, administers, and evaluates procedures for informing staff members of new education programs and practices.
-
Monitor and support the development of all school site master schedules
-
Coordinates the development and assessment of District curriculum and instructional programs.
-
Supervises curriculum and instructional materials development, textbook adoptions, and course approvals.
-
Coordinates and updates the various District plans: District Professional Learning Plan, Local Control Accountability Plan (LCAP), School Plan for Student Achievement (SPSA), LCAP Federal Addendum, School Accountability Report Card (SARC), Etc.

Coordinates and updates the District course catalog.

Coordinates activities of all curriculum committees.
-
Leads collaboration in the development and monitoring of pilot courses and course outlines.
-
Implements new courses and evaluates current courses.
-
Oversees federal entitlement programs for the District.
-
Coordinates and supervises the preparation and implementation of the budget for the department and specially-funded Federal and State budgets.

Prepares and submits the District Consolidated Application for Funding Categorical Aid programs.
-
Monitors site categorical and other relevant grant budgets.
-
Provides supervision and coordination of the District English Learners program.
-
Facilitates District English Learner Advisory Committee (DELAC)
-
Facilitates parent involvement through district advisory committees
-
Coordinates and monitors the District Honors/AP/IB/Cambridge and related programs.
-
Coordinates with the Business Services Division to ensure fiscal accountability.
-
Coordinates and monitors Inter- and Intra-District, and open enrollment permits.
-
Supervises the coordination and implementation of the counseling program, including college and career units.
-
Supervises district College Night and Job Fairs.
-
Prepare communications to the Board of Trustees, as appropriate.
-
Directs the operations and staff of the curriculum development program.
-
Interviews selects, and supervises the district staff facilitators for prioritized subject areas.
-
Assists sites in maintaining categorical programs in compliance with regulatory requirements.
-
Provides leadership and interprets current research in the ongoing evaluation of curriculum and instruction.
-
Facilitates parent involvement through district advisory committees.
-
Coordinates the textbook and library book selection and evaluation.
-
Coordinates the selection and purchase of basic adopted instructional materials for the district.
-
Provides leadership and coordination in curriculum alignment including standards, instruction, and assessment
-
Serves as subject area representative at local, county, and state meetings.

Education

Master’s Degree in educational administration or an area related to curriculum, instruction, or assessment
Experience

Minimum of five years of successful teaching experience

Minimum of three years of successful educational leadership experience at a site, district, county, or state level

Experience as a middle or high school principal is preferred
-
Experience at the district level desired
Licenses and Other Requirements

Possession and maintenance of a valid and appropriate California Administrative Services Credential Possession and maintenance of a valid California Teaching Credential

Master’s Degree in educational administration or an area related to curriculum, instruction, or assessment
