Job Summary

The job of Special Education Aide is done for the purpose/s of assisting in the supervision and instruction of Special Education students under the supervision of a certificated teacher in a special education or regular classroom; observing and documenting student progress; implementing plans for instruction; and providing clerical support to teacher. Incumbents in this classification provide direct academic support to students and teachers which directly supports learning.

Requirements / Qualifications

Required Testing or Certificates As required for Special Education Aide positions, you must have one of the following (NCLB compliance): -48 college credits, or -an AA degree, or -a passing score on the Paraeducator Proficiency Exam To sign up for the Paraprofessional exam, you may click here.
