ESSENTIAL DUTIES The Personal Care Aide Instructor will be responsible for preparing students to assist elderly, disabled, or ill individuals living at home, in an assisted living facility, or at an adult day center. The instructor is responsible for designing and providing instructional experiences that will assist students to make optimum progress toward the attainment of District goals. EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS Professional Expert Qualifications: Experience teaching caregiving, ethics, client’s rights, personal care and assistance with daily living tasks; Current license as a nurse in California (CNA/ LVN) OR Certificated Teacher Qualifications (Designated Subjects Career Technical Education Teaching Credential: Health Science and Medical Technology or Must currently have or be willing to obtain a Preliminary California CTE/Vocational Teaching Credential (VCOE) OR Professional Expert Qualifications (A minimum of five (5) years working in the direct field with proof of knowledge and technical skills, trade, or vocations to be taught). KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES, AND SKILLS Instructional theory; Basic education principles, practices, and methodologies; Competency-based curricula; Subject matter through professional development, involvement in professional organizations, and attending professional meetings, conferences, or workshops. Maintain a positive classroom climate; be sensitive to values and cultures of students in a multi-cultural, multi-lingual environment. DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS Highly organized and able to work well with others; Ability to structure a program and work within budget constraints; Creative, strategic, and analytical thinker with the ability to manage multiple projects; Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
