AIMS K12 is a top ten performing charter school with over 130 employees, 1,300 students and a budget of $20,000,000. Each board member contributes to the hiring and setting compensation for the CEO. The CEO in turn manages the day to day operations. Board members provide foresight, oversight, and insight for the organization. We strongly prefer those with experience on the board of a larger company and/or advising C-suite executives. The purpose of the Board of Directors position is to provide mission-based leadership and strategic governance. We exercise effective oversight of AIMS K12 strategic planning, financial soundness, accountability, program results, and overall advancement of the organization’s mission. Responsibilities: • Advising the CEO in developing and implementing the Company goals, strategy, and plan • Commitment to a partnership based on mutual trust and respect among the Board, the CEO and AIMS K12 • Reviewing and approving annual budget, audit reports, and material business decisions • Reviewing outcomes and metrics, evaluating the impact, and regularly measuring performance and effectiveness • Serving on at least one committee or task force and taking on special assignments • Reviewing agenda and supporting materials prior to board and committee meetings • Being informed of, and meeting all, legal and fiduciary responsibilities • Passionate with a commitment to AIMS K12 model and mission • Focusing exclusively on the best interests of the Board and the school rather than on any personal or other agenda • Representing AIMS K12 to stakeholders; acting as an ambassador for the organization • Evaluates the performance of the board and the overall performance of the organization in achieving the mission • Establishes policies for the effective governance of the organization • Strictly adhere to conflict of interest and confidentiality policies
