The Shasta County Superintendent of Schools is responsible for the statutory and other lawful duties of the office, including but not limited to, the following:

(a)    Superintend the schools of Shasta County.

  1. Visit and examine each school in Shasta County at reasonable intervals to observe its operation and to learn of its successes and challenges.
  2. Maintain responsibility for the fiscal oversight of each school district in his or her county pursuant to the authority granted by this code.

(b)    Oversee the Shasta County Office of Education’s programs, services, and departments.

(c)     Assumes responsibilities for the employment of all Shasta County Office of Education personnel

(d)    Collaborate with county programs and community partners to coordinate services and supports for students, families, and schools.

All potential candidates must possess the following qualifications:

  •         Be a registered voter and resident of Shasta County at the time of appointment per California Government Code Section 24001;
  •         Possess appropriate credentials per California Education Code 1205-1208;

  •         Be available to take office on or before July 1, 2024 and fulfill the remainder of the term through December 31, 2026.
