BASIC FUNCTION: Under direct supervision, patrol and monitor District properties and adjacent areas to protect students, staff, equipment and property from criminal activity; intervene, mitigate, and resolve all conflicts encountered on District property or its immediate adjacency; enforce laws and regulations; respond to alarms, emergency situations and non-emergency calls for service; perform related duties as assigned.

Academy and PC 832 (within the last three years) The following training will be provided by the District upon hire: Completion of a 24-hour School Security Guard Training in accordance with Education Code 38001.5 (SB 1626), School Emergency Trauma Intervention course, a Traffic Management and Control course, and a Security Bicycle Patrol. The following professional certifications must be attained within the first year of employment: Drug and Alcohol Influence Recognition P.O.S.T. Certificate School Police/SRO P.O.S.T. Certificate Interview and Interrogation P.O.S.T. Certificate FEMA IS-00100.SCa: Incident Command System for Schools FEMA IS-00200.a: ICS for Single Resources and Initial Action Incidents FEMA ICS 300: Intermediate Incident Command for Expanding Incidents FEMA IS-00700.a: National Incident Management System (Introduction)
EXAMINATION INFORMATION: All applicants must pass a multiple-choice School Safety Officer skills test and a District Agility test in order to proceed into the next phase of the interview process. ACCOMMODATIONS: In compliance with the American Disabilities Act, applicants with disabilities may request that reasonable accommodation be given related to the examination process itself. Applicants must notify the Office of Human Resources in writing of the type of accommodations being requested at the time of filing the application. Applicants may be required to provide documentation supporting the request for accommodation when the request is made. CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: Must be insurable by the District liability insurance carrier. All employment offers are conditional, based upon the successful completion of the following: Fingerprint/background clearance, and a tuberculosis clearance. A physical examination clearance is required for certain positions for the district. All candidates with a record of convictions must indicate such on the confidential data form, which is attached to the job application. A record of conviction will not automatically disqualify an applicant from employment, but a failure to list all convictions may result in disqualification or dismissal.
