The Middle School STEM Teacher will specialize in making math/science vibrant, fun, and relevant for our sixth and seventh grade students. Candidates will be skilled in teaching math, science, or STEM curriculum to students across all levels of ability and interest through an inquiry-rich, project-based approach. In addition, this teacher will serve as a grade level homeroom teacher/advisor. Students will start and end their day in their homeroom. A successful candidate will have experience helping students transition to middle school. The Middle School STEM Teacher should be dependable, responsible, sensitive, mature, and able to relate to children as well as adults. Qualifications - Bachelor’s degree in education, math, science, or STEM - Master’s degree (math, science, or STEM education) preferred - Previous experience working with 6th-8th grade students (at least 3 years) - Comprehensive knowledge of science and/or math content/curriculum - Ability to follow instructions individually and work well with a team - Prepared to attend and participate in independent school activities such as (but not limited to) Back-to-School Night, conferences, student advisory, retreats, club sponsorship, and open houses - Must complete New Employee Training which includes but is not limited to First Aid/CPR, Live Scan background check, and required Praesidium modules
