DUTIES:
Under administrative direction of the Site Superintendent, the incumbent supervises comprehensive personnel services to enable the California School for the Deaf, Fremont to fulfill legislative mandates of educating students. Typical duties include, but are not limited to transactions, staffing, position control, progressive discipline, classification, labor relations, return to work and employee development.

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:
- Knowledge of and ability to research, interpret, and apply laws, rules, practices, and principles governing the State’s personnel management practices.
- Demonstrated experience performing and administering human resources activities.
- Demonstrated experience working cooperatively with control agencies to meet organizational needs.
- Experience developing and implementing human resources policies and practices
- Excellent interpersonal skills utilizing sound judgment, discretion, tact, and high degree of professionalism
- The ability to communicate directly with Deaf staff, students, families and visitors in American Sign Language is highly desirable in this position.
