Under general supervision, assists in the implementation and maintenance of LACOE and its clients’ local, wireless, and wide area networks (LAN/WLAN/WANs), including monitoring network security and providing technical assistance to end-users.

Requirements / Qualifications

Education: An associate’s degree or equivalent number of college units (60 semester units or 90 quarter units) including at least 15 semester or 22.5 quarter units in computer science, information technology, or other fields closely related to the job requirements of this classification from an institution of higher learning recognized by the Council of Higher Education Accreditation. Foreign degrees and credit units require translation and equivalency established by an agency recognized by the Commission on Teacher Credentialing. Experience: Two years of experience troubleshooting, configuring, testing, and maintaining networks OR one year of experience as a LACOE Assistant Network Engineer. Equivalency Provision: Current certification in Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA), CompTIA Network+, Fortinet Certified Associate, or Palo Alto Networks Certified Network Security Administrator (PCSNA), or Juniper Junos, Associate (JNCIA-Junos) may substitute for one year of the required experience. Additional Requirements: A valid California driver’s license and availability of private transportation or ability to provide transportation between job sites is required. Positions in this classification may be assigned to work a non-standard workweek and be subject to on-call duty 24 hours, 7 days a week.
