The Personnel Commission announces an OPEN and PROMOTIONAL recruitment. This recruitment will result in the establishment of one integrated eligibility list. Promotional candidates will have seniority points added to final passing scores (.25 of a point for every year of classified service up to a maximum of 5 points). This list will be used to fill current and future vacancies and will be active for one year or until canceled. (The names of eligible candidates on the current list will be merged to the new list in accordance with final scores). There is currently ONE position open in our Education Support Services Department. This is an 8 hours/day, 12 month positions. Under the direction of an assigned administrator, perform technical, complex and responsible secretarial and administrative duties to relieve a District-level department or secondary site administrator of administrative detail; plan, coordinate, and organize office activities and the flow of communications; and ensure smooth and efficient office operations.
Requirements / Qualifications
Training and Experience: Any combination of education, training, and experience equivalent to graduation from high school or equivalent supplemented by college-level coursework in business, office management, or related field and three years of increasingly responsible clerical or secretarial experience. Related work experience in an educational environment is desirable. Knowledge of: Correct English usage, spelling, grammar, punctuation, and composition. Modern office practices, procedures, and equipment. Digital communication tools and applications. Terminology, processes, and operations of assigned office or program. Operation of a computer and assigned software. Financial and statistical record-keeping and reporting. Telephone techniques and etiquette. Research methods and report preparation techniques. Applicable laws, codes, rules, and regulations. Oral and written communication skills. Basic budgeting practices regarding
Ability to: Perform a variety of complex responsible secretarial and administrative assistance duties to relieve the administrator of administrative and clerical detail. Assure efficient and timely completion of office and program projects and activities. Operate a variety of office equipment, including a computer and assigned software and applications. Establish and maintain complex filing systems which contain confidential or sensitive information. Compile and supervise the preparation of complex reports. Compose correspondence and written materials independently or from oral instructions. Understand and resolve issues, complaints, or problems. Interpret, apply, read, understand, and explain laws, rules, regulations, policies, procedures, and materials. Work independently with little direction. Prioritize and schedule work. Maintain financial and statistical records. Train and provide work direction to others. Compile and verify data and prepare reports. Understand and carry out oral and written instructions. Complete work with many interruptions. Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others. Communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
