Job Summary

Job Summary

Under the direction of the Principal, assist a certificated teacher in providing instruction to individuals or small groups of limited or non-English speaking students by translating written materials and oral lectures in a classroom environment; assist in the preparation of instructional materials and implementation of lesson plans; serve as an interpreter for parent conferences, meetings and telephone calls; perform routine clerical and supportive tasks for instructional personnel.

Qualifications: • Any combination equivalent to: graduation from high school and one year experience working with children in an educational or learning environment. • Incumbents are eligible to advance from Range 15 to Range 16 by passing the Bilingual Examination with a passing rate of 70% or higher. • Incumbents must meet requirements specified under Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA)** o Obtained an associate’s or higher degree (college level) OR o Completed at least two years of study that is equivalent to at least 48 semester hours at an institution of higher education OR o Met (pass) a rigorous standard of quality and can demonstrate, through a formal State or local academic assessment, knowledge of, and the ability to assist in instructing, reading, writing and mathematics. **Must provide verification of ESSA compliance to be considered for an interview
