Job Summary

As a Food Service Worker, you are an integral part of the Team that help kids develop skills that allow them and to prepare for college, career – for life – after high school. Oversees the Student Store and School Lunch Program. Completes all purchasing, organizes and inventories food, maintains free lunch applications and all paperwork related to student lunches and accounts. Maintains and adheres to budget. Manages Student Store during operating hours and effectively distributes items to students. Trains and supervises students participating in workability program. Prepares student lunches and adheres to state and local food handlers’ guidelines. Responsibilities Include: • Manages and monitors the Food Services Department Budget. • Evaluates and orders all supplies and food items. • Prepares and serves daily meals. • Interacts with contractors, vendors and school districts to purchase food and kitchen supplies. • Schedules and supervises food services assistants (students in workability program). • Develops and maintains positive, healthy relationships with students and all other departments. • Enforces all safety policies and takes immediate corrective action to eliminate hazardous conditions and practices. • Ensures school compliance with all food preparation regulations and monitors regularly to ensure there are no violations. • Keeps both kitchen and office neat with an appealing environment. • Keeps accurate and timely records of student accounts. • Keeps accurate daily records of students on the free/reduced fee lunch program. • In charge of in-service and staff meeting menus. • Maintains lunch programs applications for new student enrollment. • Ensures kitchen is kept clean and sanitized daily.

Some responsibilities include:

  • Following any safety instructions issued by supervisor
  • Conducting duties in such as way so that they do not affect the health and safety of themselves, work colleagues, staff or students
  • Keeping clean work area and assist daily clean up
  • Preparing work areas, restock service stations, prepare and serve food and drinks, answer questions, clean tables and dining areas
  • Cleaning and sterilizing utensils, machines and other equipment used during food preparation
  • Assisting with meal planning, prep and serving food
  • Ensuring that students are served appropriate portion sizes, storing and handling food in safe ways
  • Keeping records of and reordering stock
  • Participating in staff meetings.

Requirements

  • HS Diploma or equivalent.
  • Vocational training preferred.
  • Must have or be eligible for the Food handlers certification

 

Requirements / Qualifications

Education Required: High School or higher Experience Required: Skills in working with students with diverse needs Must be able to qualify for the Food Handlers (Managers) Certification Vocational training, and supervision experience is preferred Licenses & Certifications Required: Driver Licenses
