The Orange County Department of Education (OCDE) serves some of Orange County’s most vulnerable student populations and provides support and mandated fiscal oversight to 28 school districts serving more than 600 schools and approximately 475,000 students. In addition to providing direct instruction to students through its own alternative and special education programs, OCDE administers an array of programs and services that are critical to the operations of local school districts and community colleges, facilitating professional development, legal guidance, payroll, career and technical education support, high-speed internet access, Local Control and Accountability Plan assistance and approval, resources for families, and student enrichment. Job Summary
The OCDE is looking for a dynamic individual to fill the position of Program Specialist—Alternative Education Attendance and Behavior Intervention. The individual in this position will assist with the management, supervision, and coordination of activities and operations of assigned school site(s) related to attendance and positive school climate. Consult with and assist staff in Alternative Education to conduct training, coordinate curricular resources, and evaluate effectiveness of programs for students who receive educational services in the program; participate in staff and program development related to the special methods and approaches of providing educational services within the program; and provide responsible and complex staff assistance as required. This position will be housed at our Alternative Education/ACCESS Area 3 offices.
Requirements / Qualifications
Education, Training and Experience: Education: A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in education. Experience: Three years of educational experience at least one year working with alternative education or related programs. Credential: Possession and maintenance of a valid California Credential authorizing instruction.
