Job Summary
Under the direction of the Director of Language Support Services, lead and perform a variety of complex functions and specialized assessment activities to determine fluency for incoming students to the District; oversee the activities of the Language Assessment Center; administer and score tests; make recommendations for student placement in appropriate District programs; input data and test scores into an assigned database; schedule student appointments and organize summer testing for incoming Transitional Kindergarten and Kindergarten students; serve as an interpreter for non-English speaking students and parents; perform various clerical duties in support of assigned program.
Requirements / Qualifications
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Education: High School graduate or equivalent; Associate Degree or 48-semester units of college course work from an accredited college or university. Proof of Education must be submitted with the application. Experience: Two years of experience in an English Learner program. Any combination of training and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities may be considered. Testing: Passing scores on District tests: Spanish Bilingual Skills Exam (computerized), Spanish/English Translation I (written), and Spanish/English Oral Translation (oral), within the last three years. Other: Bilingual / Spanish Required LICENSES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Valid California class C driver's license. CA English Proficiency Exam training within the first 6 months of employment.
