BASIC FUNCTION: Serves as educational leader and administrator of a school, with general direction provided by area superintendent; establishes and maintains effective relationships with students, staff, parents, and community organizations; and performs other work as required.

TRAINING, EDUCATION, AND EXPERIENCE: A bachelor's degree from an approved institution is required. Advanced degrees are preferred. A minimum of five years of certificated experience in public or private schools is required, and preference will be given for additional elementary school teaching experience, administrative, or supervisorial experience at the elementary level. Preference given to bilingual speakers, and expertise in vital programs within individual schools including, but not limited to, STEAM, Montessori, Dual Immersion, Waldorf, etc. LICENSES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Hold a valid Administrative Services Credential issued by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing is required.

The Sacramento City Unified School District seeks a dynamic and innovative leader to guide teaching and learning at our collaborative and nurturing Theodore Judah Elementary School. Theodore Judah staff, students, and families form a kind, generous and inclusive community who care deeply about all aspects of children's development.
The Theodore Judah Learning community is as diverse as it is unique. As the oldest continuously operating school in Sacramento, Theodore Judah has a legacy of serving students from varied
backgrounds and is the center of the neighboring community. Currently, of the 454 students enrolled, 52% of students are white, 27% are Hispanic, and 11% are two or more races. Additionally, 15% of students at Theodore Judah receive Special Education Services and 28% are identified as socioeconomically disadvantaged. Theodore Judah has a chronic absenteeism rate of 25.6% which will need to be addressed by a leader with a restorative and trauma informed approach to meeting students and families where they are at.
Theodore Judah believes in embedding critical thinking and collaboration across all content areas. Staff work diligently to meet the diverse needs of students across the learning spectrum. They achieve this through UDL practices and small group instruction across all grade levels, GATE cluster model, school-wide implementation of SEL and data driven MTSS strategies. Team members at Judah strive to bring their best each day to serve the Theodore Judah learning community and seek a leader who is ready to support them in this work and invest in their own professional growth through compassionate professionalism, clear and equitable communication, distributed decision making, and innovative ideas to improve teaching and learning.
