BASIC FUNCTION Under the direction of a site principal, principal’s designee or other appropriate administrator, movement-based taekwondo instructor is responsible for providing a sound taekwondo, martial arts education program to teach the essential skills and knowledge of martial arts. The taekwondo instructor will work collaboratively with, with movement-based peers to provide high-quality instruction essential to developing students who are confident, independent, resilient, and disciplined. Through the taekwondo/martial arts program, students will develop positive skills to support growth in body, mind, and spirit. The instructor will support the mission of the school and nurture students to set and strive to achieve personal goals, cooperate with others, accept responsibility for their own choices and action, and ultimately, improve their physical and mental performance. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (This position description is not intended to be an exhaustive list of all duties, knowledge, or abilities associated with this classification, but is intended to accurately reflect the principle job elements.) • Plan, implement, monitor, and assess a classroom instructional program for consistency with District and Board goals and philosophies, local site goals and specific objectives based on assessment of student needs. • Develop lesson plans in accordance with site and District policy and practice and specific plans for substitutes as necessary. • Design and implement engaging instructions in small group or individual sessions that leads to skills development, physical fitness, academic success and forms that are consistent with the subject. • Instruct pupils in citizenship and basic subject matter specified in state law and administrative regulations and procedures of the school district. • Establish and maintain standards of pupil behavior needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom; support and assist in maintaining d
