The Orange County Department of Education (OCDE) serves some of Orange County’s most vulnerable student populations and provides support and mandated fiscal oversight to 28 school districts serving more than 600 schools and approximately 475,000 students. In addition to providing direct instruction to students through its own alternative and special education programs, OCDE administers an array of programs and services that are critical to the operations of local school districts and community colleges, facilitating professional development, legal guidance, payroll, career and technical education support, high-speed internet access, Local Control and Accountability Plan assistance and approval, resources for families, and student enrichment. Job Summary
We are seeking a talented and enthusiastic individual to serve as Administrative Assistant III to serve in the Business Services Division. The ideal candidate will be responsible for working with the credentials/live scan unit and the clearing house for school districts and community colleges in Orange County. The incumbent will maintain and update sensitive/confidential records and related tracking system of individuals' fingerprints, Department of Justice (DOJ) reports, and credentials, provide assistance and information concerning pertinent state education codes and Title V requirements and regulations; answer questions, and refer caller/visitor to appropriate resource as necessary, perform a variety of general clerical duties in support of the OCDE credentials registry and fingerprinting systems and assigned staff. This position will be used to establish an Eligibility List for other Administrative Assistant III positions with OCDE.
Requirements / Qualifications
Education and Experience: Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be: • Three (3) years of office administrative or secretarial experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Experience in a school district or governmental agency is preferred. • Graduation from high school or high school equivalency test.

The tests are arranged and paid for by OCDE.
