Job Summary

Aspen Public Schools is seeking an experienced full-time Education Specialist. Education Specialist will provide special education services to meet the requirements of mild to moderate needs of exceptional learners, and collaborate with classroom teachers in planning for instruction that integrates learning and is aligned with the California Common Core State Standards. The Education Specialist will work closely with the school team to supervise students according to their Individualized Education Plan (IEP). Responsibilities Identify the needs of assigned students through formal and informal assessments. Review referral, history, and assessment data to develop appropriate goals and objectives for each student. Collaborate with general education teachers regarding each student's educational and social-emotional needs and objectives. Plan, develop, and implement individualized learning plans for each student. Prepare instructional materials and lesson plans according to Individual Educational Plans (IEPs). Utilize research-based methods of instruction to meet each student's needs in the Least Restrictive Environment (LRE). Monitor, evaluate, and document each student's progress utilizing appropriate measurements and assessment devices. Prepare timely IEPs and progress reports for each student. Collaborate and consult with school personnel regarding implementing IEPs and special educational services. Regularly communicate with parents/guardians through email, phone calls, and progress reports. Develop and implement Behavioral Intervention Plans (BIPs) when necessary. Support exceptional learners for inclusion in the general education setting. Maintain accurate and complete records in compliance with LEA regulations and legal requirements. Maintain a current knowledge of special education best practices and trends.
