Job Summary
Under the supervision of the Senior Director of Pupil Services, will provide counseling and school based support services to district students and their families in treating mental and emotional disorders. Assists school team in making appropriate decisions relative to the students objectives and schools program. Will work directly with students referred for assessment and assistance, to promote mental health and personal growth.
Requirements / Qualifications
Possession of Master's Degree in MFT, LCSW and valid/current LMFT license issued by the California State Board of Behavioral Sciences; or Doctorate in Clinical Social Work. Additionally, two years of experience providing social/emotional and/or educationally related counseling services independently, or under the supervision of a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) or Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) issued by the California State Board of Behavioral Sciences. Alternative Qualification Alternatively, the successful candidate must demonstrate a minimum of four years in a pre-licensure status working in a clinical environment with K-12 school age students and their families as a Therapist. Also, such pre-licensure candidates must demonstrate the ability to document their application for LMFT/LCSW is presently pending before the California State Board of Behavioral Sciences, for a test date. Such applicants must successfully complete the licensure within 18 months of hiring. Candidates seeking this placement in a pre-licensure status must be under the supervision of a Licensed Therapist (LMSW or LMFT) willing to enter into an Independent Contractor status with the Compton Unified School District, with a minimum seven (7) years professional experience. Any costs associated with the licensed supervisor of pre-licensure applicants shall be the personal liability of the applicant. The willingness to serve as the Licensed Supervisor of the pre-licensed applicant must be submitted in writing as an attachment to this job application. This accommodation is due to the existing backlog of processing licensure applications at the California State Board of Behavioral Sciences. LICENSES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Valid California Class "C" driver's license with proof of insurance sufficient to meet the District's insurance requirements. Current CPR and First Aid Certification.
