Job Summary

Under the direction of the Superintendents’ Council, and administrative structure of Culver City Unified School District, the Assistant Superintendent directs, manages, and oversees the activities, operation, and implementation of the Special Education Local Plan Area (SELPA); coordinates SELPA activities with school districts, and outside agencies. The Assistant Superintendent assures compliance with federal and state laws and regulations; provides day-to-day supervision and oversight of regional programs; assures implementation of the Local Plan; oversees fiscal responsibility; oversees improvement planning as directed by the California Department of Education (CDE) and acts as a liaison between the CDE and member districts.

The Tri-City SELPA includes Culver City Unified School District, Beverly Hills Unified School District and Santa Monica/Malibu Unified School District. Education and Experience Requirements: - Possession of a valid California Administrative Credential and a valid Teaching Credential or Pupil Personnel Services Credential ; - Possession of a Pupil Personnel credential or experience supervising Pupil Personnel programs; - Any combination equivalent to: Master’s degree in education or a related field and four or more years of increasingly responsible special education service experience, preferably at both the elementary and secondary levels and previous related management and administrative experience. Licenses: - A valid California Class C vehicle operator’s license. Job requires travel by personal car and plane to Sacramento and San Diego.

Selection Process The qualifications of each applicant will be evaluated in a multi-step process using specific criteria. The adopted criteria will be utilized during the application screening, interviewing and final decision-making process. After the application screening is completed, the district will determine those candidates to be interviewed. Formal panel interviews will be held on August 1, 2023 and Second Round interviews with the District Superintendents will be on August 2, 2023.The successful candidate will assume his/her position as soon as a qualified candidate is selected.
