Lone Pine Unified School District in Lone Pine, CA is looking for a dynamic candidate to teach and help oversee our Career and Technical (CTE) Agriculture Program. Seeking an enthusiastic and energetic replacement in a two-person agriculture department who can teach our Agriculture Mechanics Courses, as well as those in Ag Science. Classes offered include, but aren't limited to AG Science, AG Mechanics, and Advanced AG Mechanics. Welding and fabricating skills are greatly desired. The district's state of the art Agriculture Mechanics shop is fully equipped and ready to work in. Under general supervision, to plan, organize, teach and evaluate a four year continuous progress educational program in one or more of the following: Agriculture Science and Agriculture Mechanics, for secondary students. The instructor will be expected to work with FFA students on the district's farm, as well as provide project supervision. We have an on-campus 10-acre school farm with beef, sheep, poultry, rabbit and swine facilities as well as a greenhouse, orchard and vineyard. In addition the instructor will be involved in FFA student leadership development and CDE coaching. LPUSD students complete in CDE competitions during the school year, and at the county fair. The instructor will be expected to supervise the students in these competitions. Finally, the district is looking for an instructor who works and communicates well with strong community support, in an AG program that has a long-standing tradition of quality participation.

Credential Requirements: Valid California teaching credential(s) in Agriculture OR qualify for a California Designated Subjects Career Technical Education Credential Valid California Driver’s license

Lone Pine is a small rural community, population of approximately 2,500, located on the eastern side of the Sierra Nevada mountains at the base of Mt. Whitney, approximately 200 miles northeast of Los Angeles on Hwy 395. A wide variety of recreational activities include skiing (Mammoth Lakes is 100 miles north) hiking, mountain climbing, golf, tennis, boating and fishing. The District includes 3 schools: one necessary small high school with 101 students, one elementary/middle school with 215 students and one Alternative Education School with 9 students.
