Requirements / Qualifications

Requirements / Qualifications

• Copy of Transcript (Copy of all transcripts reflecting bachelor's degree) • With the passage of SB 1397, the Basic Skills Requirement is temporarily waived from 1/1/23 - 7/1/24. After that date, basic skills proficiency will once again be required for the initial issuance of the Emergency 30-Day Substitute Teaching Permit. Individuals who receive an Emergency 30-Day Substitute Permit under the provisions of SB 1397 will not need to satisfy the Basic Skills Requirement after the flexibility ends on 7/1/24 to renew the permit. Basic skills will remain waived for that document. This means that even after 7/1/24, the educator will be able to renew the Emergency 30-Day Substitute Teaching Permit without basic skills if that document was initially issued under this flexibility. This flexibility only applies to he Emergency 30-Day Substitute Teaching Permit. • After 7/1/24, meet Basic Skills Requirement (https://www.ctc.ca.gov/credentials/leaflets/basic-skills-requirement-(cl-667). Our office can assist with guidance for the options available to meet Basic Skills Requirement. Should you have difficulty attaching your documentation, please refer to the EdJoin FAQ's or contact the EdJoin Help Desk at 1-888-900-8945. Emailed, faxed, mailed, or hand delivered attachments will render your submission incomplete. If required, the application for an Emergency 30-Day Substitute Teaching Permit will be supplied to appropriate candidates upon hire. Substitute applicants must live in a close proximity to our district, residing no farther north than Santa Barbara and no farther south than Thousand Oaks. If you are relocating within these areas, please be sure it is clearly noted on your application. We are only aware of the information that is provided to us. Please be advised that if you do not meet this requirement, we will be unable to consider you for substitute employment and your application will be automatically disqualified.
