Job Summary
The Academic Counselor meets with At-Promise Youth and Special Education Diploma Bound Program students to provide academic counseling and guidance requirements. The Academic Counselor assists in identifying and resolving educational concerns, including adjusting to school and community life and completing the college/Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FASFA) application process. The Academic Counselor advises students on their educational program, citizenship, scholastic, and vocational aspirations.
Requirements / Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS • Possession of a valid California Pupil Personnel Services (PPS) – School Counseling Credential; • Two (2) years of experience working with students in an alternative education setting; • Two (2) years providing academic, vocational, employment, and/or related services for youths. DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS • Possession of a valid California Administrative Services Credential; • Possession of a valid California PPS Child Welfare Authorization (CWA) Credential; • Five (5) years of experience working with At-Promise Youth and/or students in the Special Education Diploma Bound Program; • Five (5) years of experience providing academic, vocational, employment and/or related services for youths; • Experience developing community contacts, creating vocational readiness trainings, and assisting with student development of a college and career readiness plan.
