KEPPEL UNION SCHOOL DISTRICT CLASSROOM TEACHER BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF POSITION Under direct supervision of site principals and general administrative supervision, serves as classroom teacher in grades TK -8, or a combination thereof, and creates a flexible program and environment favorable to learning and personal growth in accordance with each students’ ability. MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Provides developmentally appropriate learning experiences for students and provides instruction in the course of study prescribed by the District approved curriculum. 2. Collaborates with grade level or grade span peers to plan and deliver standards-based lessons and units that promote evidence-based student learning. 3. Identifies and utilizes a variety of instructional methodologies related to the instructional level of students from diverse backgrounds, languages and cultures, and provides collaborative experiences for students. 4. Provides a variety of learning experiences including individualized and small group instruction that are engaging and motivational, helps students to develop an appreciation of the subject matter, and promotes interest in a continued exploration of the subject matter. 5. Utilizes formative and summative assessments strategically and systematically throughout instruction to collect ongoing achievement data appropriate to modify instructional strategies for all students. 6. Plans for and monitors ongoing assessment and interactive communications between the teacher and student to ensure students are actively involved in self-assessment of their learning goals as tied to classroom learning. 7. Utilizes district technology to monitor, assess, intervene, support and integrate in teaching to enhance achievement. 8. Attends and contributes to SST and 504 meetings and decisions addressing individual needs to support student progress. 9. CLASSROOM TEACHER
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF POSITION
Provide an educational program for pupils in Kindergarten through eight grade, and assist in other school programs as assigned.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Teach all subjects and other appropriate learning activities according to local curriculum requirements and a course of study set by grade level teachers, as adopted by Board of Trustees.
2. Instruct pupils in citizenship, communication skills, and other general elements of the course of study specified in state law and administrative regulations and procedures of the school district.
3. Provide planned learning experiences in order to motivate pupils and best utilize instruction time.
4. Develop lesson plans and instructional materials and provide individualized and small group instruction in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each pupil.
5. Establish and maintain standards of pupil behavior needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere.
6. Evaluate pupils’ academic and social growth, keep appropriate records, prepare progress reports, and communicate with parents on the individual pupil’s progress.
7. Identify pupils’ needs and cooperate with other professional staff members in assessing and helping pupils solve health, attitude and learning problems.
8. Create a functional and attractive environment for learning through displays, bulletin boards, and interest centers.
9. Maintain professional competence through participation in inservice education activities provided by the district and/or self-selected professional growth activities.
10. Perform basic attendance accounting and business records as required.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Select and requisition books, instructional aids and supplies, and maintain required inventory records.
2. Insure a comfortable room environment.
3. Supervise pupils in out-of-classroom activities during regular school day.
4. Administer group standardized tests in accordance with district testing program.
5. Participate in curriculum and development programs.
6. Sponsor pupils activities and participate in faculty committees.
7. Participate with other professional staff members in the social hygiene and outdoor education program at grade level..
8. Other duties as defined by the principal.
SUPERVISION EXERCISED OR RECEIVED
Under the immediate direction of site administrator.
MINIMUM POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
Credential:
General Elementary, Standard Elementary or other appropriate California credential authorizing service in the appropriate position.
Education:
Bachelor’s degree, including all courses needed to meet credential requirements.
