Position The Aftercare Staff at El Rio Community School will work directly with students between TK - 6th grade to provide a safe, responsible, well-supervised afterschool program while acting as a positive role model. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Design, plan and facilitate activities (e.g. games) Maintain shared classroom equipment and learning areas Communicate directly with coordinators and classroom teachers to design behavior interventions for students Assist the Aftercare Coordinator in monitoring and supervision of students in aftercare program; assure student understanding of program rules and procedures; maintain appropriate order and student conduct 12:1 ratio The ideal candidate for the job must have experience working with children and, ideally, managing adults. They must enjoy working in a fast-paced school environment and remain calm in the most challenging of circumstances; ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with faculty, staff, and parents; ability to communicate effectively and demonstrate sensitivity to others; be flexible, creative, and adaptable to ever-changing situations; and have excellent organizational skills. This part-time, non-exempt position reports to the Aftercare Coordinator. Qualifications Pass a Department of Justice background check (Livescan) Pass a TB (tuberculosis) screening/testing Experience working or volunteering with children and teens in a professional setting. Strong leadership skills Benefits Hours - 12:00 pm - 5:30 pm Monday - Friday Salary - $20-$23 (depending on education and experience)
