The School Fiscal Services Division (SFSD) of the California Department of Education is the right team for you. SFSD core values include Teamwork, Integrity, Customer Service, and Continuous Improvement.Under the direction of the Education Fiscal Services Administrator of the Categorical Allocations and Audit Resolution Office in the School Fiscal Services Division, this position is responsible for addressing a variety of sensitive and complex fiscal issues and must provide expert assistance to local educational agency (LEA) governing board members and administrators on such issues as they relate to K–12 education funding and school finance. The incumbent must be able to work independently, as well as with a team of consultants, and keep the Administrator apprised of emerging issues and current legislation, law, regulations, and practices.
Some of the key duties will include: 1) The ability to understand, interpret, and apply state and federal laws and regulations as they pertain to categorical programs. 2) The ability to develop, document, and communicate complex processes and detailed procedures.3) The ability to calculate entitlements and compose apportionment letters, notices, schedules, and related documents to apportion funding. 4) The ability to identify data sets required to calculate categorical allocations. 5) The ability to use Microsoft Excel to manipulate and join data sets, develop complex formulas, ensure accurate results, and display data in a consistent and professional format. 6) A thorough understanding of the contents and provisions of the annual state budget act and related legislation as they relate to funding and programs in education, and of the budget and legislative enactment processes. 7) The ability to understand, interpret, and apply state and federal laws and regulations as they pertain to categorical programs. 8) The ability to develop, document, and communicate complex processes and detailed procedures.

Working Conditions
This position is eligible for remote-centered hybrid telework up to three days per week; minimum two days per week in the office.
