Position Description

Under the direction of a school site administrator, provide a variety of complex and responsible secretarial and clerical support services in the administrative office of Claremont High School; provide information and assistance to students, parents, faculty, administrators, staff and school visitors; monitor student behavior and needs as appropriate

Requirements

Knowledge of

Functions and activities of a school office.

Modern office practices, procedures and equipment.

Telephone techniques and etiquette.

Financial and statistical record-keeping techniques.

Correct English usage, grammar, spelling, punctuation and vocabulary.

Interpersonal skills using tact, patience and courtesy.

Oral and written communication skills.

Operation of standard office equipment.

District organization, operations, policies and objectives.

Ability to

Provide secretarial support services for a secondary school site administrator.

Update school calendar and keep website information current.

Use student management system.

Work independently with little direction.

Back up attendance office.

Work confidentially with discretion.

Operate a variety of office machines including computer terminal, calculator, and copiers.

Perform varied and complex secretarial and clerical support duties.

Compose correspondence independently or from oral instructions.

Maintain a variety of filing systems.

Perform duties effectively with many demands on time and constant interruptions.

Read, interpret and follow rules, regulations, policies and procedures.

Establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.

Understand and follow oral and written instructions.

Make arithmetic calculations quickly and accurately

Meet schedules and time lines.

Maintain records and prepare reports.
