Job Summary
Under general direction of the Fleet Maintenance Manager, assists in the operation of the District vehicle maintenance shop. Allocates work to mechanics and supervises work production. As a working supervisor, participates in the maintenance and repair of all District vehicles. Assists in the review of all work performed by District mechanic personnel. Committed to teamwork and collaboration to provide optimum services for students, staff, and community.
Requirements / Qualifications
•Knowledge of the principles of internal combustion engines and of procedures, tools, equipment, and materials used in the repair and maintenance of motorized equipment. •Ability to diagnose mechanical problems, operate equipment used in repairing or servicing motorized equipment; estimate time and materials needed to complete a job, and understand and follow oral and written directions. *Ability to lift up to one hundred (100) pounds. •Three years experience repairing motorized equipment under a journey mechanic. •Graduation from high school or equivalent. •Must have a good driving record. Be capable upon employment, of obtaining and maintaining the following documents: California Commercial Driver License Class A or B with "Air Brake" and "Passenger" endorsements. California School Bus Driver Certificate with no limitations (exception "Automatic Transmission Only"), and Medical Examiner's Certificate. Must be able to traverse 121/2-inch aisles on school buses. Must be able to kneel, squat, bend, climb, twist, and safely enter/exit a school bus through the emergency exits.
