Job Summary
Serve as the educational leader and chief administrator of an elementary school; plan and direct the instructional programs and school plant operations; participate in staff, student and community activities; organize, direct, evaluate and supervise assigned certificated and classified staff. Will support students and work collaboratively and independently with all constituents in a diverse environment committed to equity and students’ social-emotional wellness; provides leadership, administrative, and supervisory skills for the educational development of students as well as to promote parent and community involvement; provides communication between the District and other educational and community partnerships.
Requirements / Qualifications
This assignment will be at Farragut Elementary School. Farragut is a school with an excellent academic history that values the arts and technology. The average K-5 enrollment for elementary schools in the District is 500, and Class Size Reduction has been fully implemented, for grades K-3. Minimum Qualifications Five to seven years of classroom teaching experience at the elementary level. Previous administrative experience is highly desirable. Documented and demonstrated effective instructional, organizational and administrative leadership. Ability to communicate effectively with staff, students, the community and employee organizations. Education Master’s degree from an accredited college or university and a California Administrative credential are required. Evidence of continuing graduate coursework is desirable. CLAD or BCLAD is highly desirable. Spanish language proficiency preferred.
Selection Process The qualifications of each applicant will be evaluated in a multi-step process using specific criteria. The adopted criteria will be utilized during the application screening, interviewing, and final decision-making process. After the application screening is completed, the Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources and the Assistant Superintendent of Educational Services will determine those candidates to be interviewed. Interviews will be conducted in mid-June, and finalists may be invited to return for an additional interview with the Superintendent and Board Member(s).
