Job Summary

We have a growing enrollment waitlist and need to hire more teachers to meet the demand! We are seeking full-time Associate, Assistant, and Substitute Preschool Teachers. Qualified Candidates will have: Minimum 12 core units in Child Development or Early Childhood Education (concurrent enrollment considered) or CDA Credential Comprehensive Training Provided: We welcome both experienced and entry-level candidates. We have a Mentor Teacher on staff with over a decade of experience ready to assist you! (Minimal informal experience with children preferred, such as babysitting, nieces/nephews, Sunday school, etc.) Hiring Bonus: We are open Mon-Fri 7am-6pm and need teachers for closing shifts! Candidates with availability to work an 8-hour closing shift ending at 6pm receive a $500 hiring bonus in appreciation of your flexibility! Job Description / Essential Elements:    Print   
  • Be at least 18 years of age and eligible for criminal background clearance through California Community Care Licensing
  • Complete The Growing Place Montessori new hire training facilitated by the Mentor Teacher and Educational Director.
  • Assist with children who are diapering or toilet-learning (when applicable).
  • Assists in maintaining neat, organized, clean, and attractive prepared environments both indoors and outdoors.
  • Follow and model all policies and procedures from the Staff & Parent Handbooks.
  • Continuously observe the classroom and students to provide continuity of care.
  • Assist in ensuring that teacher/student ratios are met and communicated with all staff members.
  • Attend all mandatory training and staff meetings (all meetings & training are paid, but may be scheduled outside of regular scheduled hours and/or business hours).
  • Effectively communicate with all teachers in the classroom.
  • Facilitate a respectful environment for children and adults by advocating and incorporating conflict-resolution using Positive Discipline, grace, and courtesy.
  • Consistent attendance and being timely is required to provide continuity of care.
  • Must be flexible and adaptable. In accordance with our collaborative philosophy, the person filling this position may occasionally be required to carry out or assist with other tasks in addition to the duties listed on this job description.

  • Must be able to stand for long periods of times, squat, bend over, sit on the floor, and be capable of lifting up-to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities are required for this job, including close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Willingness and ability to participate in gross motor activities with children.
  • Must wear closed-toe, closed-heel shoes at all times.
  • Ability to stand in direct sunlight and heat up-to 100 degrees during outdoor time.
  • Must be in overall good physical condition.
  • Must have current and up-to-date immunizations that are required by California State Licensing (TB test, MMR, TDaP).
