
Substance Abuse Specialist (Open) at Kern County Superintendent of Schools

Job Summary
The substance abuse specialist will work to help coordinate services within a Positive Behavior Intervention & Supports (PBIS) framework and Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS) for the Kern County Superintendent of Schools. This position will consult and collaborate with Office, school district personnel, and outside agencies to help promote a school environment responsive to the needs of children; provide in-service training on positive behavioral interventions, evidence-based interventions, and other best practices focused on substance abuse.
Requirements / Qualifications
Experience: Two (2) years of work experience with a PBIS-MTSS system or framework as specialized behavior support staff. Education: Bachelor’s Degree in the fields of human services or related fields preferred. Certified Alcohol Drug Counselor through the California Consortium of Addiction Programs and Professionals (CCAPP), California Association for Alcohol and Drug Educators (CAADE), California association of DUI treatment Programs (CADTP) or accredited/equivalent organization required or obtain the certification prior to the conclusion of the probationary period. Attach any documents that you feel will help demonstrate that you meet the minimum qualifications listed above (i.e. resume, transcript, diploma, resume). Documents you wish to attach should be uploaded via EDJOIN by the filing deadline in order to be considered in the hiring process (pertains to current employees also). A scanner to upload required documents is available in the Human Resources office located at 1330 Truxtun Ave., Bakersfield, CA 93301. •The documents will be scanned and emailed to the candidate. Candidates achieving a rating of 70% or better will qualify to continue in the eligibility screening process.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Some positions may require proof of privately owned automobile insurance and the possession of a valid California Motor Vehicle operator’s license. Fingerprint clearance by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the California Department of Justice is a condition of appointment after all other required job conditions have been met. Must present verification of completion of Child Abuse Mandated Reporter training or obtain verification within six (6) weeks of hire and annually thereafter, as required by the California Child Abuse Neglect Reporting Act. This position has a probationary period of six months or 130 days in paid service, whichever is longer.
