POSITION SUMMARY Under the supervision of the Director of Special Education, the psychologist will perform as follows: Conducts psycho-educational evaluations, and makes recommendations for interventions and placement in special programs; serves as case-carrier and member of educational teams needed for planning individual programs for special education students; participates in IEP meetings; organizes and/or conducts in service programs as appropriate for staff and parents; consults with parents to assist in understanding the learning and adjustment processes of children; counsels students as appropriate regarding test findings, vocational goals, behavior and academic concerns, etc; counsels parents, individually and in groups; assists parents and students with referrals and consultation services to and with community agencies; serves as liaison between the school, the family, and the selected community resources when therapeutic, academic, and/or social services are provided; consults with teachers in the development and implementation of classroom methods and procedures designed to facilitate pupil learning to support learning and behavior disorders; reevaluates pupils enrolled in special education as required by law; participates in staff, community, and parent meetings; performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Possession of a valid California credential authorizing the service as a School Psychologist.  Fluency in Spanish is highly desirable.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT All employment offers are conditional, based upon the successful completion of the following: Fingerprint/background clearance, and a tuberculosis clearance. A physical examination clearance is required for certain positions for the district. All candidates with a record of convictions must indicate such on the confidential data form, which is attached to the job application. A record of conviction will not automatically disqualify an applicant from employment, but a failure to list all convictions may result in disqualification or dismissal.
